"The name of the restaurant, Lan Platu (million mackerel), is a play on words since the expected name would be “Ran Platu” (mackerel restaurant) and lets you know you're in for some mackerel treats. The basic platu tod (fried) is good with either the chili paste namprik platu or the more sour namprik gapi. Amok (similar to a souffle) made with platu is delicious as are the excellent salads including yam platu, soups like tom yum platu and even a savory mackerel omelette (kai geow platu). The place is fun, central and there's plenty of seating. Prices are very moderate. Opening time is 4:00 pm daily."

"Holy mackerel! Nice local fish restaurant with friendly staff and excellent food. And yeah, they have a mackerel-forward menu (it’d be kinda silly to NOT get mackerel here). Pictured are fried mackerel, a dip of shrimp paste and fermented fish, a fishy custard, various raw veggies, and a little leaf-wrapped sticky rice dessert thingy. All of it very delicious."
